Dog pools in Spain

Discover the unique benefits of dog pools in Spain. A perfect place for fun and cooling off for your dog, with attention to safety and hygiene.

Swimming fun without sand and salt

Dog pools offer a fantastic alternative to beaches. No worries about saltwater irritating skin or fur, and no sand getting everywhere. The environment is monitored, ensuring a safe swimming experience. Furthermore, there is often more shade available, ideal for hot Spanish days.

NB

Most dog pools in Spain are only open during the summer season (usually from mid-May to the end of September).

What to look out for when visiting a dog pool

Before taking your dog to a swimming pool, there are a few important things to consider. Some parks have special 'mini-pools' that are perfect for small dogs.

Don't forget to bring the dog passport; your dog must be microchipped and the rabies vaccination must be up to date. For hygiene reasons, you are usually asked to brush the dog shortly beforehand to minimize loose hair. It is also mandatory to let the dog urinate or defecate before entering the water park.

Rules of conduct and exceptions

Aggressive behavior is not tolerated in dog swimming pools. Female dogs in heat are not allowed at any pool to prevent disturbances. Some parks have a minimum age requirement for puppies, often only around 4 months after all basic vaccinations have been received.

In most Spanish dog swimming pools, owners are allowed to enter the water to accompany their dog, but "real" swimming for humans is often prohibited due to hygiene regulations (usually, you are allowed to enter the water up to knee or waist height). Specific rules often apply to 'potentially dangerous breeds' (PPP dogs), such as wearing a muzzle out of the water.
